My Reflection on meeting this standard (So What?)

.....Versatility and practie appear to be the keys here. This standard addresses our use of many tools, not just specializing in one, and also in using online tools to communicate. The artifacts listed are tools which promote collaboration during projects, responsible use of those tools, and offering an array of choices for use in projects. To be able to responsibly instruct students on the use of technbologies, teachers need to use them themselves regularly. Through their own proficiencies students will gain the most benefit. Keeping an open communication with parents, students, and colleagues is also very important. All three parties need to be kept informed of progress, upcoming needs, and areas of strength and weakness. This is an important standard when considering how to keep everybody happy and involved.

Write your future learning goals related to this standard.
.....I think one of the biggest things to consider with this standard is the need for "showcasing". In the back of my mind I am thinking "budget cuts", "furloughs", and "merit pay". Unfortunately, teachers will more and more be forced to show their worth and make themselves more marketable as a protection from the governor's budget plans. Educating ourselves in emerging technologies and finding appropriate ties to standardized test content will be vital. The logical progression would then be communicating how we are preparing kids for the 21st century - via online tools like wikis where we provide project links. Besides educating myself as much as possible on new technologies, I also plan to incorporate as many lessons as possible with those technologies. Parents will be invited as a part of the evaluation process for student projects. This positive, open communication and support will be vital to ensuring the community values what we are doing with our youth.
